What We Found Auditing 100 Startup Brands in ChatGPT
We audited 100 startup brands in ChatGPT. Most were invisible — and the patterns behind the winners were consistent.
We ran 100 startup brands through ChatGPT to see who shows up when buyers ask about their category — and who does not. The results were lopsided: the majority were effectively invisible, mentioned rarely or not at all.
The brands that did get cited shared three traits: structured, machine-readable content; genuine topical depth across the questions their buyers ask; and third-party citations from sources the models already trust. None of it is exotic — but almost no one is doing it on purpose.
